Planned dental services in pandemic conditions

As you know, in the context of the declared pandemic, special attention was paid to the activities of institutions providing planned and emergency dental services.

By order of the Minister for Internally Displaced Persons from the Occupied Territories, Labor, Health and Social Protection of Georgia, recommendations were made to institutions providing planned dental services to prevent the spread of a new coronavirus (COVID-19) in Georgia. (Order of the Minister for Internally Displaced Persons from the Occupied Territories, Labor, Health and Social Protection of Georgia No. 01-193/O dated May 8, 2020, Tbilisi )

According to the order, the compliance of the dental clinics with the established requirements will be checked by representatives of the labor inspection department on the basis of a pre-filled application of the dental institution.

According to the Agency for the Regulation of Medical and Pharmaceutical Activities, "subject to the relevant requirements and after a scheduled inspection, clinics will be entitled to provide scheduled dental services to our population"

What do you need to know before you visit the dentist?

In accordance with annex No. 1 to the order, mandatory recommendations are made to ensure the safety of the doctor and patient. Therefore, in order to protect your health and those of others, before conveniently accommodating in the dentist's chair, make sure that the clinic takes all necessary measures to prevent the disease.

  • There is enough space in the reception/waiting room of the clinic so that patients can be examined, safely enter and separate from each other.
  • Patients complete a risk assessment questionnaire;
  • Thermal screening was carried out;
  • Medical personnel are equipped with personal protective equipment;
  • The patient is provided with personal protective equipment – boot covers, a medical mask, protective glasses;
  • Disinfectants are available to staff and patients;
  • Between dental drill operating in the hall system, a distance of meters is maintained;
  • Sanitary standards are observed, a washroom is installed in all dental rooms, etc.;
  • The clinic has a person responsible for prevention and infection control, who you can contact if necessary.
